What do film ratings mean? |
| A: |
The Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority requires
all films for public exhibition to be classified. There are five standard
classifications which may sometimes have a cautionary note attached.

Category I - Suitable for All Ages.
-
Category IIA - Not Suitable for Children.
-
Category IIB - Not Suitable for Young Persons and Children.
-
Category III - Persons Aged 18 and Above Only.
(Category IIA and IIB are advisory in nature but the age restriction for
Category III films is strictly and legally enforced). Please note that proof of
age may be required at the Box Office or Ticket Collection Point to purchase or
pick up pre-booked tickets, and also to enter the cinema. It is recommended
that a Hong Kong Identity Card or photo ID which displays the date of birth is
used as proof of age.
